W. Rex Woods (withdrew 1979) and James L. Durham (retired 1988), formed our firm as a partnership in Salina, KS in December 1964. The company continued to grow through an expansion of services and eventually opened offices in Beloit, KS (1965), Clay Center, KS (1969), Holdrege, NE (1979), and Oxford, NE (2013).
During 1969 three partners, Charles B. Reid (retired 1997), W. Jerome Heidrick (retired 1998), and Larry W. McCoach (retired 2001) were admitted, and J. Mark Woodruff became a partner in 1974. In 1983, the partnership was incorporated and three additional shareholders were admitted: David Rosenthal, Douglas Edwards, and James Trower.
Early in 1986, the firm acquired the Holdrege practice of Larsen, Schroeder & Associates, merging that practice into the Holdrege client base, and in December 2000, we successfully merged into our firm the practice of Waldo Rost in Holdrege. In the same year, Jeffrey L. Wheeler became a shareholder. As of January 1, 2004, Bonnie S. Sanderson became a shareholder in the firm. She works out of the Salina office. In January 2014, Jayson Hood (Clay Center) and Todd Shanks (Salina) became shareholders in the firm. January 1, 2015, Angie Odle accepted the invitation to become a shareholder in the firm. She manages our Beloit office. As of January 1, 2016, Amy Stonebraker became a shareholder in Salina. Effective January 1, 2024, Jodi Eckhout was admitted as a shareholder and works out of the Holdrege office.
The firm currently operates four offices, three in Kansas, and one in Nebraska. Our home office in Salina is our data processing center and is the administrative office. Our satellite offices have resident shareholders, staff accountants, and clerical assistance as necessary.
Woods & Durham Chartered has completed our “peer review” for the three-year period that ended June 30, 2023. This program, administered jointly by the AICPA and the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants, requires an extensive review of the firm’s quality control related to the issuance of financial statements and related reports by an “outside” review team of CPAs. The firm received an unqualified report, just as it has since the inception of the program back in the 1990s. A copy of that report may be found here.
Translated into common language, we continue to do high-quality work in compliance with industry standards!
